SB 204990 is a growth factor that belongs to the group of fatty acid derivatives. It inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase and carnitine palmitoyltransferase, which are enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis and cholesterol synthesis. SB 204990 also inhibits the activity of mitochondrial ATP synthase, which is responsible for the production of ATP. This drug has been shown to increase levels of atp in cells, which may be due to its inhibition of mitochondrial ATP synthase. SB 204990 is also known to have anti-inflammatory properties as it inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.
