Product Information
2-(4-((2,4-Dioxothiazolidin-5-yl)methyl)phenoxy)acetic acid (BMS-201038) is a novel drug that can be used to treat type 2 diabetes. It has been shown to reduce insulin resistance and increase insulin sensitivity in rodents when it is administered orally. BMS-201038 binds to the hydroxyl group of the active site of the enzyme inositol phosphatase, which regulates intracellular signaling pathways and glucose levels. This drug also has a hydroxyl group that may react with nucleophiles such as water or thiols, which may lead to its hydrolysis.
BMS-201038 also has two trifluoromethyl groups that could be oxidized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, leading to the formation of metabolites with different activities than those found in the parent compound.
