Luciferin-beta-D-glucuronide, dipotassium salt is a conjugate of luciferin and glucuronic acid. It is used as a substrate in enzyme tests that measure the activity of aminopeptidase, beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, and other enzymes. Luciferin-beta-D-glucuronide, dipotassium salt is also used as a substrate in chemiluminescent assays for measuring the concentration of phenols and catecholamines. In addition to these applications in chemistry and biology, this compound also has uses in food testing for measuring the concentration of lysine, methionine, histidine, threonine, tryptophan, valine, proline, leucine, tyrosine and phenylalanine. It can be used as a staining agent for detecting bacteria on culture media or for diagnostics.
