Product Information
1,4,8,11-Tetraaza-cyclotetradecane-5,12-dione dihydrate is a chemosensor that can be used to detect transition metal ions. It has been shown to emit light when protonated by the presence of transition metal ions and to have an emission spectrum that can be tuned by the nitrogen atoms in the cavity. This molecule has a hemispherical shape with a cavity that is oriented towards the protonation site. The cavity is occupied by amines and has two hydrogen bonds formed between nitrogens in the cavity and oxygen atoms on either side of it. The molecule also contains a nitrogen atom in each arm of the tetraaza ring and a carbonyl group at one end of each arm.
