Product Information

Name:
6-Methyl-2-(thiophen-3-yl)-1,3,6,2-dioxazaborocane-4,8-dione
Description:

6-Methyl-2-(thiophen-3-yl)-1,3,6,2-dioxazaborocane-4,8-dione is a thiophene compound with a UV light absorbing group. It has been used as a high level ultraviolet light absorber and isosbestic marker in the kinetics of thiophenes. This compound can be prepared by reacting 3,5-dimethoxybenzoyl chloride with 2-(thiophen-3-yl) acetophenone. The experimental spectroscopic technique of acetoxyphenyl has been used to study the selectivity of this reaction product. 6MBOD reacts with oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water. The quantum yield for this reaction was determined to be 0.077 for this process.
