Product Information
1,3-Di-tert-butylimidazolium hydrogencarbonate (DTBMH) is an organocatalyst that is used in a number of organic reactions. DTBMH is a nucleophilic catalyst that can be used to form nitro groups from aziridines and carbenes. This reaction can be carried out under mild conditions and offers the advantage of being able to recycle the product. The catalytic activity of DTBMH can be enhanced by the presence of nitro groups, which are introduced through nitration or reductive amination with 2-propanol. Nitration leads to the formation of a terminal nitro group while reductive amination leads to the formation of an internal nitro group. Finally, acetalization of aziridines provides another means for introducing nitro groups into compounds.
