Description

CP-809,101 fumarate is a drug that belongs to the class of monoamine transporter inhibitors. It binds to the noradrenaline and serotonin transporter proteins in the plasma membrane, thereby inhibiting the reuptake of these neurotransmitters into the presynaptic neuron. This leads to increased concentrations of these monoamines in synapses where they bind to postsynaptic receptors, resulting in an increase in neurotransmission. CP-809,101 fumarate has been shown to be effective against depression and Parkinson's disease, as well as having beneficial effects on dyskinesia and nicotine addiction. CP-809,101 fumarate acts by binding to 5-HT2C receptors.
