Product Information
Molidustat is a drug that binds to iron and prevents it from being absorbed by the body. It has been shown to be effective in treating breast cancer cells in vitro, where it decreased the viability of these cells by inhibiting the activity of mitochondrial Complex I. Molidustat also binds to iron and prevents its absorption by the body, which may lead to an increased glomerular filtration rate. The effect of molidustat on iron homeostasis was studied using primary human cells and phosphate bond assay methods. These studies showed that molidustat inhibited iron uptake into cells and caused an increase in free intracellular phosphate levels. This suggests that molidustat may have therapeutic potential for patients with chronic kidney disease or other conditions characterized by impaired iron homeostasis.
