Er 27319 maleate is a diagnostic agent which may be used for the diagnosis of various cancers. It is an epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) marker that activates the fatty acid receptor, PPARγ. Er 27319 maleate has been shown to have anticancer activity in a number of pre-clinical cancer models, including lymphocytic leukemia, pancreatic tumor cells, and prostate cancer cells. In addition to its anticancer activities, Er 27319 maleate has been shown to inhibit proliferation in a number of other cell types, such as activated T cells and heart cells. Er 27319 maleate also inhibits cholesterol synthesis and lowers plasma cholesterol levels in animals with hyperlipidemia.
