4-Amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine is a primary amine that has the chemical formula CH3CH2NH2. It is soluble in water and many organic solvents and has a relatively high boiling point. 4-Amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine is used to make polymeric matrix for chromatography columns. This product can be used as a reagent for the synthesis of dodecanedioic acid or malonic acid. The reaction between 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine and malonic acid produces ethylmalonic acid as one of its reaction products. The optical properties of this product are affected by the presence of other compounds due to changes in its refractive index.
