Description

3-Amino-1,2-propanediol (3A) is a glycol that has been shown to be transported across the blood-brain barrier. It can be used as a tracer of glucose in the brain. 3A binds to hydrochloric acid, which may act as an antioxidant for this compound. 3A has low solubility in water and high solubility in organic solvents. The biological properties of 3A are similar to those of amide and aldehyde groups.
