Description:

2-Amino-5-chlorobenzthiazole is an organic compound that contains a benzene ring with two amino groups. It is a nucleophilic reagent for the synthesis of N-substituted anilines and azides. The reaction mechanism involves nucleophilic attack of the 2-amino group on the electron deficient carbon atom of the aromatic ring, followed by displacement of chlorine from this carbon atom. This product has been shown to be resistant to tuberculosis and to be reusable. 2-Amino-5-chlorobenzthiazole interacts with other molecules in a similar manner to benzothiazoles, which are known as pharmacophores.
