2-(2-Aminoethyl) pyridine is a drug that belongs to the group of pyridines. It is an antihistamine used to treat skin inflammation and allergic symptoms. 2-(2-Aminoethyl) pyridine binds to histamine receptors in the body, blocking the action of histamine and relieving allergy symptoms. This drug also has cardiac effects and may be toxic in high doses. 2-(2-Aminoethyl) pyridine has been shown to inhibit protein transport from one side of the cell membrane to another, which may be due to its ability to bind with proteins that are involved in protein transport. This drug can also produce a chemiluminescent reaction when exposed to calcium ions, which can be used as a diagnostic technique for measuring cellular levels of this ion.
