Trans-1-Amino-2-tetralol is a second-generation, protease inhibitor that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of serine proteases. This compound is an enantiomer of the natural amino acid L-serine and is used in organic synthesis as a chiral biocatalyst. Trans-1-Amino-2-tetralol also has catalytic properties that have been shown to be useful in acylation reactions. The kinetic and enantioselectivity properties of this compound are similar to those of other inhibitors, such as benzamidine, which is used for the synthesis of peptides.
