Product Information

Name:
Adefovir-D4
Synonyms:
  • [[2-(6-Amino-9H-purin-9-yl-D4)ethoxy]methyl]phosponic acid
Description:

Adefovir-D4 is a prodrug that is metabolized by the liver to its active form, adefovir. Adefovir-D4 is used as a treatment for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It may be used in combination with pegylated interferon alfa-2a and ribavirin. Adefovir-D4 has been shown to inhibit the growth of renal epithelial cells and reduce the production of nephrotoxins. The pharmacokinetic profile of this drug has been studied in detail and it is known that it binds to proteins after intravenous administration, which causes an increase in its plasma concentration. This drug also has a chromatographic profile, which can be useful for measuring plasma concentrations in patients with renal impairment.
