Description

1-Adamantane acetic acid is a naphthenic organic compound that has physiological effects. It is a hydrogen-bond acceptor and has a trifluoroacetic acid group. The compound inhibits mitochondrial function by inhibiting the enzyme ATPase, which is involved in the synthesis of ATP. 1-Adamantane acetic acid also inhibits tumor growth by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. It has been shown to have potent antagonist activity against amide neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine and serotonin, which are involved in the regulation of muscle contractions and mood respectively.
