2-Acetonyloxy-3,4-difluoro nitrobenzene (2AO2DF) is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the growth of corynebacteria. It is a reaction product of 2-chloroacetophenone with 3,4-difluoronitrobenzene. The chemical structure of 2AO2DF consists of a carbon atom, two oxygen atoms, and one chlorine atom. Reaction products are generated by the addition of alkali metal and ammonium sulfate to 2-chloroacetophenone in tetrahydrofuran. These products are then reacted with 3,4-difluoronitrobenzene in chloroacetone and hydrochloric acid to produce 2AO2DF. The mechanism for the inhibition of corynebacteria by 2AO2DF is not currently known.
