1-[(2R,3S,4R,5S)-4-Azido-3-Fluoro-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]-5-Methylpyrimidine-2,4-Dione is an immunodeficiency agent that is a nucleoside analogue. It has significant activity against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and potentiates the effect of reverse transcriptase inhibitors. This drug is water soluble and crystalline in form. The diacetate salt of the compound has been used in clinical trials to treat HIV infection. 1-[(2R,3S,4R,5S)-4-Azido-3-Fluoro-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]-5Methylpyrimidine 2,4 Dione binds to the 3′ hydroxyl group on the viral RNA strand and prevents detritylation of this site
