4-Amino-5-Fluoro-1-[(2R,4S,5R)-4-Hydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)-3-Methylideneoxolan-2-Yl]Pyrimidin-2-One is a pyrimidine nucleoside that is used as an anticancer drug. It inhibits the enzyme cytidine deaminase and thus prevents the synthesis of DNA. 4AAP has been shown to be effective in vivo against tumor cells and leukemia cells in cell culture. 4AAP has also been shown to inhibit t cell leukemia and to have a prognostic effect in vivo. The functional groups of 4AAP are a hydroxyl group, which can form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, and a proton on the nitrogen atom that can accept or donate protons.
