N-Acetylleucyl-alpha-Glutamylhistidyl-N-[2-Oxo-4-(Trifluoromethyl)-2H-Chromen-7-Yl]-alpha-Asparagine is an apoptosis protein that has been shown to induce apoptosis in prostate cancer cells. It induces apoptosis by inhibiting the activities of mitochondrial membrane potential, cytosolic calcium, and proteolytic activity. NAGHTSAAPAA has also been shown to activate the mitochondria-mediated apoptosis pathway by increasing the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria into the cytosol. This mechanism leads to fragmentation of DNA and cell death.
