N-Acetyl-L-alpha-Aspartyl-L-alpha-Glutamyl-L-Valyl-N-[2-Oxo-4-(Trifluoromethyl)-2H-1-Benzopyran-7-Yl]-L-alpha-Asparagine is a small molecule that inhibits the activity of mitochondrial enzymes. It binds to the ATP synthase and inhibits the production of ATP, which leads to an increase in mitochondrial membrane potential. NACALAAGVA also inhibits fatty acid synthesis and hepatic steatosis and has been shown to improve protease activity in proximal tubules. In addition, it has been found to inhibit fragmentation assay and cytosolic protein synthesis.
