2-Amino-3-(2,4-difluorophenyl)propanoic acid is a cyclic amino acid that is biologically active as an agonist of the opioid receptors. It has a high affinity for these receptors and also has affinity for the NMDA receptor. 2-Amino-3-(2,4-difluorophenyl)propanoic acid has been shown to produce antinociceptive effects in rats. This compound acts as an agonist at the endomorphin-2 receptor and pentapeptide receptors, which are part of the endogenous pain control system. The potency of this compound against pain was found to be comparable to morphine and other opioids.
