Aloin is a chemical substance that belongs to the group of phytochemicals. It is extracted from the outer pulp of the Aloe Vera plant, which is a member of the lily family. Aloin has been shown to have both anti-diabetic and hepatoprotective effects in animals. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit streptococcus in vitro while standardizing staphylococcus, and can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of mastitis. Aloin also has antifungal properties against Candida albicans and other yeast species. The empirical use of aloin as a treatment for bovine mastitis has been reported, but there are no studies to support this use.
