Product Information
- AYPGKF amide PAR-4 Agonist Peptide
PAR4 is a member of the PAR family of G-protein coupled receptors that are involved in inflammatory responses. PAR4 is activated by leukocyte recruitment, carrageenan, and additives such as fatty acids and fatty acid esters. PAR4 activation leads to neutrophil recruitment and activation. The biological function of PAR4 is to activate neutrophils and platelets, but it also has an important role in inflammation by increasing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
A synthetic small molecule ligand for this receptor has been identified that can act as a potential drug candidate for inflammatory diseases. This compound was found to be a potent inhibitor of ROS production in stimulated human neutrophils, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids.
