Ac-Ala-Ala-Ala-OMe is a protease inhibitor. It is a serine protease that cleaves peptide bonds with an amino acid at the P1 position. Ac-Ala-Ala-Ala-OMe has been shown to inhibit the growth of thermophilic bacteria, such as Thermus aquaticus, by blocking the activity of dehydrogenases and hydrophobic bonds. Ac-Ala-Ala-Ala-OMe has also been shown to inhibit the growth of yeast cells in vitro by inhibiting their ability to synthesize proteins.
