Abz-Gly-Ile-Val-Arg-Ala-Lys(Dnp)-OH is a protease inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the activity of proteinases, such as collagenase, elastase and cathepsin G. It also inhibits the growth of leishmania parasites. Abz-Gly-Ile-Val-Arg-Ala-Lys(Dnp)-OH was also found to be potent in inhibiting the proteolytic activity of cancer cells. The inhibition is due to its ability to form tight complexes with the active site of enzymes such as trypsin and chymotrypsin. This compound has potential for use in animal experiments and in vitro assays.
