It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects in primary cells, as well as to induce apoptosis in HL60 cells. Ac-Leu-Glu-His-Asp-aldehyde (pseudo acid) trifluoroacetate salt is also able to inhibit the activation of the caspase pathway by preventing the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria and decreasing the mitochondrial membrane potential. The protein may be used as an agent for skin cancer treatment.
