4-Amino-N,N-diethylbenzenesulfonamide is a sulfa drug that has been used as an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory agent. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis. 4-Amino-N,N-diethylbenzenesulfonamide has been shown to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhimurium. This drug also has an effect on the biosynthesis of thyroxine in rat liver cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit enzymes involved in the synthesis of thyroid hormones such as monoamine oxidase and tyrosine hydroxylase.
