Product Information
5-Amino-1-phenylpyrazolo-4-carbonitrile is a synthetic molecule that binds to the plutella xylostella (PX) protein and inhibits the molting process. It has been shown in vivo to be neuroprotective and to inhibit cellular oxidant production as well as growth. 5-Amino-1-phenylpyrazolo-4-carbonitrile also binds to a pharmacophore and has been shown to have antiplutellin activity against Plutella xylostella larvae. This agent also has antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge hydroxyl radicals. 5APPCN is a precursor for the synthesis of this molecule, which is made from phenylhydrazone and urea in the presence of heat.
