Description

N-(4-Acetylphenyl)-4-methylbenzamide (NAPMBA) is a potent inhibitor of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). NAPMBA has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the sEH enzyme and demonstrates potent anti-inflammatory activity in vitro. NAPMBA also inhibits the production of inflammatory eicosanoids, such as leukotriene B4 and prostaglandin E2, which are involved in cardiovascular diseases. The bioavailability of NAPMBA is low due to its poor solubility at physiological pH. In order to overcome this issue, NAPMBA prodrugs have been developed that are more water soluble than the parent compound.
