Description

N-(4-Acetylphenyl)-4-methoxybenzamide is an ethanolic anti-inflammatory agent that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity in a number of different animal models. N-(4-Acetylphenyl)-4-methoxybenzamide inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX). The acetophenones and acetophenols are responsible for the anti-inflammatory activity. Condensation of chalcones with acetophenones and acetophenols can produce N-(4-acetylaminophenyl)-4-methoxybenzamide, which is also effective against inflammation.
