Product Information
- Methanesulfonamide, N-(4-acetylphenyl)-
N-(4-Acetylphenyl)methanesulfonamide is an anti-inflammatory agent that belongs to the class of sulfonamides. It is a synthetic compound with a molecular weight of 195.13, and has been optimized for use as an anti-inflammatory agent. N-(4-Acetylphenyl)methanesulfonamide inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which produces prostaglandins that are responsible for inflammation and pain. This drug has been shown to be effective against inflammation in animal models, although its effects on humans are not well documented. The synthesis of N-(4-acetylphenyl)methanesulfonamide starts with coupling 4-hydroxybenzoic acid with methanesulfonyl chloride using thionyl chloride as a catalyst. The reaction is then followed by halogenation with bromine in the presence of potassium carbonate to produce 2,4-dibrom
