Description:
4-Allyl-5-pyridin-4-yl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol is a corrosion inhibitor. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of copper corrosion in alkaline solutions. The mechanism of action of this compound is not yet clear, but it has been shown to adsorb onto the surface of metal and form a protective film. This compound also inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. 4-Allyl-5-pyridin-4-yl--4H--1,2,4--triazole--3--thiol binds to the penicillin binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall by competitive inhibition and prevents formation of an antibiotic inhibitor complex with enzyme cell wall synthesis required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
