3-Aminoquinoxaline-2-carbonitrile 1,4-dioxide (3AQCD) is a cytotoxic agent that binds to deoxyribose in DNA and inhibits the synthesis of proteins. 3AQCD has been shown to be reactive with human cells lines, causing a variety of effects including cell death. 3AQCD has been used in tumor site therapy and as a cytotoxin for blood platelets. It also induces DNA modifications such as n-oxide formation in vitro. 3AQCD is activated by reductive processes in vivo, which may lead to its toxicity in tissues.
