5-Amino-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid is an inhibitor of phosphatases and pyrimidine carboxylate biosynthesis. It inhibits the activity of pyrazole derivatives, which are synthesized from a hydrogen bond between amines and a carboxylate group. 5-Amino-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid inhibits the production of carboxylates by binding to the enzyme with a pharmacophore (a three dimensional structure) that includes a triethyl orthoformate. This type of inhibition is called competitive inhibition.
