Product Information
3-(1-Adamantyl)-3-oxopropanenitrile (ADAP) is a crystalline solid that reacts with sodium hydride to form an adduct. X-ray diffraction analysis of this adduct indicates that the hydrogen atoms have been replaced by sodium. The IR spectrum of ADAP shows a broad peak at 3,200 cm−1 due to the -NH2 group and peaks at 1,600 and 1,400 cm−1 due to the -CH2 group. Acetonitrile can be used as a solvent for ADAP because it does not react with ADAP or the sodium hydride.
