Description

N-[4-(Aminosulfonyl)phenyl]-2-cyanoacetamide is a pyridone with antibacterial activity. It has shown efficacy in the treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis, with an MIC of 0.25 μg/mL against Escherichia coli and a MIC of 1 μg/mL against Proteus mirabilis. It also has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
