This molecule has also been shown to be a monomer in polymer films, with possible functional groups. 2-Amino-4-hydroxy-6-methylpyrmidine can also be found in maltole, which is an ingredient in some cough syrups. 2-Amino-4-hydroxy-6 methylpyrimidine has been shown to have photooxidation properties, which are mainly due to its tautomeric form.
