This compound has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 1-Aminocyclohexyl)methanol binds to amino groups on proteins, which prevent the formation of iminium ions. The addition of carbonyl groups to this compound provides an alternative mechanism for preventing protein cross-linking.
