1-Amino-3-methoxypropan-2-ol (1AMP) is an organic molecule that contains one amine group and three carbonyl groups. 1AMP can be reductively cleaved to form an aldehyde and a ketone, which can then react to form a dimer. 1AMP also reacts with glyoxal (a reactive carbonyl compound) to form the radical species 2,4-dinitroimidazole, which can be used as a radiosensitizer for cancer treatment. Radicals produced from 1AMP disproportionate in the presence of radiation, forming two molecules of 1AMP. Misonidazole is a drug that inhibits the growth of cells by blocking their ability to synthesize DNA.
