Description:

4-Amino-5-pyridin-3-yl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol is a nitrogen containing heterocycle. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of butyrylcholinesterase inhibitors such as donepezil and phenacyl. 4APT has been synthesized by reacting the commercially available pyridine with 4H-[1,2,4]triazole and thiourea in refluxing benzene. The yield was found to be about 50%. Elemental analysis showed that 4APT contains no carbon or hydrogen atoms.
