Product Information
- 4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol
- 4-amino-5-(phenylmethyl)-
4-Amino-5-benzyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (ABTT) is a halogenated compound that can be synthesized by reaction of the corresponding chlorides with triethyl orthoformate. It is an antibacterial agent that has been shown to have activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. ABTT inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. The inhibition of these two enzymes leads to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division.
