N-Aminocarbonyl-N-methylglycine is a competitive inhibitor of pyrazinoic acid, an enzyme that catalyzes the release of ammonia from amino acids in the human body. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to increased levels of ammonia in the blood and urine. N-Aminocarbonyl-N-methylglycine has been shown to inhibit creatinine amidohydrolase and proton pyrophosphatase, which are enzymes involved in the production of creatine and hydrolysis of ATP. It also inhibits other enzymes such as kinases, phosphatases, and dehydrogenases. N-Aminocarbonyl-N-methylglycine may be used as a drug to treat high blood pressure or kidney failure by reducing the amount of ammonia released into the bloodstream.
