2-Amino-3-methyl-5-bromopyridine is a tetrahydropyrrole. It can be synthesized from triethyl orthoformate and anilines in the presence of a hydroxide solution and nucleophiles such as sodium hydroxide or nitrite ions. This compound is used in the synthesis of other compounds, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and dyes. 2-Amino-3-methyl-5-bromopyridine is resistant to base hydrolysis with sodium hydroxide solution and has a high reaction rate in dichroism spectroscopy.
