This ligand is a potent inhibitor of tyrosinase, which is the enzyme responsible for the production of melanin. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of tyrosinase in cultured cells. The structure of this ligand is based on a n-benzylbenzamide and benzamide combination that can be synthesized from 5-(1-Adamantyl)-2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid. This ligand also has lipophilic properties and polyhydroxylated groups that are necessary for depigmentation.
