Product Information

Name:
2-[(2-Aminoethyl)(methyl)amino]ethanol
Synonyms:
  • ethanol
  • 2-[(2-aminoethyl)methylamino]-
Description:

2-[(2-Aminoethyl)(methyl)amino]ethanol is used as a monomer in the synthesis of polymers that are used for the transfection of cells. It has been shown to increase the efficiency of gene transfer, especially when optimized with other factors such as polymeric materials. 2-[(2-Aminoethyl)(methyl)amino]ethanol is synthesized by reacting ethylene diamine and ethanolamine. The molecular weight, which ranges from 200 to 300 grams per mole, is dependent on the degree of polymerization. 2-[(2-Aminoethyl)(methyl)amino]ethanol has been shown to be biodegradable and can be broken down by hydrolysis.
