Description

AG556 is a potent and selective inhibitor of the BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase, which is involved in the development of leukemia. AG556 inhibits the proliferation of cells by blocking tyrosine phosphorylation, which is essential for cell division. AG556 has been shown to inhibit brain functions and to be effective against infectious diseases such as HIV and malaria. This drug also has cardiac effects, including myocardial infarcts and diabetic neuropathy. AG556 is used as an experimental model for testicular cancer, where it inhibits bcr-abl kinase activity.
