Description:
6-Acetylbenzothiazole is an inhibitor of the class of imidazole-based inhibitors. It binds to the active site of tyrosine kinase and inhibits its function. The benzothiazole moiety in this compound binds to the imidazol ring, while the acetyl group binds to a vicinal position on the oxazole ring. This inhibitor has been shown to be selective for tyrosine kinases and does not inhibit other classes of protein kinases such as serine/threonine kinases. 6-Acetylbenzothiazole has also been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mouse xenografts.
