Product Information
Angiotensin II is a peptide hormone that is released from the endothelium of blood vessels in response to injury. This hormone increases the permeability of blood vessels, leading to an increase in blood pressure. Angiotensin II binds to specific receptors on the surface of cells and causes a conformational change that activates protein kinase A, which phosphorylates a number of proteins. These proteins regulate different cellular processes, such as proliferation and inflammation. Angiotensin II also has been shown to play an important role in cancer and kidney disease by causing chronic renal failure. Angiotensin II can be measured by chromatographic analysis or with the use of antibodies against the peptide.
