4-Amino-2-(methylthio)pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde (MTAC), a drug discovery candidate, is a chemical compound that inhibits the activity of the oncogenic protein kinase Aurora A. MTAC binds to and inhibits the kinase domain of Aurora A, leading to inhibition of tumor growth. MTAC has been shown to be tolerated in preclinical models at doses up to 150 mg/kg and was found to have no cardiac toxicity.
